The Hammock

Pretty much my favorite store of all time is Blain's Farm and Fleet. We go there about twice a month just to walk through it. I love looking at all the bird stuff and all the other cool stuff they have. As we were walking through a couple weeks ago they had a miniature hammock (one of those mini ones so you can see what they look like). So on the way by I said, "I bet Gideon could fit on that." As Kathee gave me the glimmer-look in her eye, we both stopped dead in our tracks, backed up, and put Gideon on it. Now, I know we are TOTAL geeks. I know his face pretty much tells it all. But we just had to do it. So enjoy!

Gideon's First Picnic

As Fridays are my day off, we are trying to be a bit more active. A few weeks ago when it was nice we put Gideon in the hiking back pack and walked all over Blackhawk State Park on a bird watching extravaganza (more for me than the rest of the family). This past Friday, we went to West Lake Park in Davenport. It's a park we drive by on our way to Iowa City, but have never been there (which would also explain why I drove past the entrance and then drove in 5 of the wrong gates before going in the correct one to actually get to the lake. But boy we had fun. And a beautiful day. We love the backpack as we can walk anywhere, and then with the feet on it we can set him down and feed him right on the spot. Enjoy the pictures.

Gideon's New Talent

Kathee recently taught Gideon the amazing talent of blow-whispering "Oh-oh-oh-ah-ah-ah." Whenever he wants to impress us, or just give himself another reason to clap at a Gideon-sized accomplishment he yanks this amazing talent out. Hope you enjoy.

Gideon and Grandma T At Easter!

Everyone seems to ask if Gideon is always smiling and laughing. I will say the kid is in a good mood about 95% of the time (the other 5% being when he's got a load in his drawers, is hungry, or is cutting a tooth). I love in this clip when he sees the camera and hams it up. And oh yeah, tell me my mom isn't one of the two coolest grandma's of all time (Gotta give props to Grandma Smith).

Hey There Texas

Our friends Bill and Rhonda gave Gideon this cowboy hat well before Gideon was home from Ethiopia. We think he looks cute in it. And yeah, I'm secretly hoping that Gideon will one day be able to go with Bill and Rhonda and ride horses with them... or ponies... or muttons... or whatever!

Gideon and Solomon

Evolutionary Advancement or 2nd Law of Thermodynamics? I'll Take the latter!

Paul Ham Meets Mufasa

Gideon has found a new way to sit so that things are easier to access from his sitting position. When we tell him that crawling would also get the desired results, he looks a bit confused. I guess that won't be the last time we tell him something that his immediate response is a confused look!
