Hot on the trail
Although he may be hot on the trail of a cache, due to his holding the GPS upside down, I'm not positive we are heading in the right direction. But at least he looks cool.

We Have Shingles
No not those shingles, the ones on a roof. With all the rain we've been having, our porch has been leaking like a sieve. So Matt Williams, his business partner Eric, my friend Nick McKittrick (youth pastor at Homewood E-Free Moline), and I cleared off the three-plus layers of shingles and re-shingles the porch. We had to replace a lot of the wood as it was really rotten. We started at 8:45 and finished at 3:30 on Friday. We really made light work of it.
400th Cache
Saved this for my 400th. We needed 6 gallons of water and a bung of people to get this one. Definitely my favorite cache so far.
Biking
As a stress-release, and because I didn't want to do Insanity (like P90X), I started bike riding. Since March 27, I've logged over 300 miles. Last week I went mountain biking with my good friend Justin Wilson. He goes a lot, and it was my first time. I fell off my bike three times, getting this on one of my crashes. I think I'll stick with biking the bike paths...until he invites me again.
Playing with Ethiopian friends
We had Ben and Liz over again, along with their two kids from Ethiopia. Liz teaches at Rock Island High School and some of the kids were telling us about her and that she was adopting from Ethiopia. So we have shared a meal with them two or three times now and have had fun with them. Here are pictures for a few weeks ago.
Parks
We are visiting park after park in the QCA. With both kids loving the playground equipment, we visit many a park. It's interesting to note that Hope is much less timid than Gideon. She'll climb on stuff without knowing what, or how dangerous it is, while he is fine staying back until figuring it out and then diving in. Regardless, we are having a blast at the park.
Overnight to Springfield
A few weeks back, Kathee thought it would be a good idea for me to get out of town for a day or so and get away from things. So we headed to Springfield, Il, for a Friday-Saturday. We went to the Capitol, Lincoln's Library and Museum, Lincoln's tomb, and his home. We also did some geocaching. And we visited Charlie Parker's Diner, a place showcases on Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins. We had a great visit and had tons of fun. And due to us forgetting about Solomon (and the fact that we decided late Thursday night to leave Friday morning), he got to make the trip, too.
Hope's Ear-piercing
Yup, we did. We got her ears pierced. She cried for a few minutes afterwards, but hasn't even acknowledged them. I think she looks pretty cute.
Trying it out
So each time I've tried updating the blog, it won't allow me to upload pictures. Let me try this again.
